The area
Tuscany is the heart of Italian art. Thousands of years of history and
culture are witnessed by the most extraordinary monuments you can find
in Italy: churches, museums, castles, palaces, ancient towns and
villages.
Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Volterra, San Gimignano are famous all over the
world. But Tuscany is also renowned for its good climate and beautiful
landscapes: green hills, blue sea, and sunshine. Besides, Tuscany is the
region with most natural thermal sites in Italy. And do not forget the
food! Excellent olive oil and superb wines, as well as plenty of
tempting traditional dishes with local produce.
Pisa
is wellknown for its leaning tower and the amazing Piazza dei Miracoli,
which don't need any further description. But there are many other
monuments and places which are well worth seeing while walking through
the city centre, after having a drink in a stylish café or tasting a
real Italian homemade ice cream.
Not far from Pisa visit Calci, a nice old town in the country with its
beautiful Certosa, S. Miniato (a medieval town with landscapes on Arno
valley and countryside), S. Piero a Grado
with its beautiful church.
In June a festival is held in Pisa, called "Giugno Pisano" with music,
traditonal games, exhibitions.
On June 16th at night "Luminaria di S. Ranieri": thousands of candles
adorn all the buildings along the river Arno and reflect their shapes on
the water; unforgettable!
For opera lovers, Puccini Festival is held every year, on July and
August, in Torre del Lago, just 30 minutes driving from the property: it
is there that Puccini loved living and composing his masterpieces. His
most famous operas are performed in the beautiful outdoor theatre
located just at the lake side.
The wellknown yearly Bocelli concert is
being
held
on
July
24th and 26th
at the
Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico, located in a breathtaking countryside
just 30 minutes driving from the house.
The
classical music festival "Anima Mundi" is held in Pisa monumental
cathedral every year on September-October.
A car service for concerts is available for guests on request.
Concerts are held at villa
Di Lupo Parra as well.
Try some of the cosy restaurants in the city centre, in the
countryside and on the coast which offer a wide choice of traditional
and creative kitchen and high quality red and white wines.
Italian kitchen classes and wine tasting are available on request.
Don't miss the famous white truffles in S. Miniato, only 30 minutes
driving from the villa. In November an important gastronomic festival is
held, which features delicious dishes with truffles as well as excellent
red wines of the area.
Traditional "sagre" everywhere in the countryside in Summer, which are
outdoors gastronomic festivals, each offering food and wine inspired by
a particular theme or ingredient, depending on the typical produce of
the place.
An
antiques market is held on the second Suturday and Sunday of each month
in Pisa; a similar market is held in Lucca on the third weekend of each
month.
The sea is not far, with beautiful beaches in Tirrenia (just 20 minutes
away by car) and in Viareggio (30 minutes), as well as picturesque bays
with cliffs and beaches near Livorno.
Five Lands are just one hour
driving; a travel by train is available as well and in Summer also a
daily boat service from Viareggio.
We suggest to walk on the hills around Pisa among picturesque villages
with a superb view over the country up to the sea and the isles.
A cycle lane is available along the river Arno, public tennis courts and
swimming pools are
not far from the villa.
Golf is available in
Tirrenia.
Tired of trips? Indulge in a relaxing massage or a beauty treatment at
S. Giuiliano natural spa, just a few minutes travelling from the
property.
